FOSS Update

Planning is well into its final stages for the annual Duck Race on Saturday 13th July at the Slingsby Sports Field. The event runs from 11am to 3pm and the all-important duck race is at 2pm. Just before half term your child received a form for duck sales to raise money for the school. Please don’t forget to crack on with selling your ducks and for those who have been selling already – good on you and keep going!! Remember to have one line for each duck sold so that we can easily allocate duck numbers for the race. You might be pleasantly surprised by how willing our local communities are to support this fundraiser and our wonderful school so don’t be afraid to ask your friends, families and neighbours to buy a duck.

We have some spaces in the field for stall holders to set up and promote their business on the day. If any parent has a business or knows of someone who has a business who would like to have a stall please get in touch with the FOSS Secretary, Mel Staley, at friendsofslingsbyschool@hotmail.co.uk. Stall holders will be asked to provide their own shelter and a donation of £5 or any other amount would be very much appreciated.

The volunteer list for the Duck Race has also been posted in the school foyer today. There are lots of different jobs and time slots so get in early to get the job and the time slot you want! We need your help and every year we rely on and greatly appreciate our wonderful group of volunteers. The Duck Race is our major fundraiser for the year and it wouldn’t happen without our volunteers. Plus, it’s a really fun family day out and a great end to the school year!
